                     2960 Password quick recovery (in 6 Steps)

Here is quick 2960 and other Cisco layer 2 switches quick password recovery. please note that if you want to save your old configurations then must follow procedure till the end.

• Step1

   Power off the switch then press and hold the mode button, power on the switch and release after 15 seconds then switch should give you under mentioned prompt

switch:

• Step 2

Apply command

  switch: flash_init

• Step 3

You can check the flash containing by

switch: dir flash:

then apply

switch:rename flash:config.text flash:config.old

then

switch: boot

• Step 4

after reboot switch will come and prompt asking initial configurations. no for initial config

Continue with the configuration dialog? [yes/no]: N

then

Switch> enable

• Step 5

Rename the file for its original name now

Switch# rename flash:config.text.old flash:config.text







Step 6

• Step 6

Copy the configuration into memory

Switch# copy flash:config.text system:running-config

Source filename [config.text]? 
Destination filename [running-config]?

Now you are done with password recovery. after that also create enable new password
